Now, by Decree of The Dictator, you can have a Federal handgun permit to carry in every state. At least you could if I was a real dictator! Unfortunately, this will never happen because the NRA is too stubborn to do anything right.
Instead of wasting their time fighting reasonable gun control legislation, the NRA should be in favor of gun control as long as it is Federal and comes with a Federal carry permit. Of course, the NRA would oppose federal standards which would likely have to be higher than those of many states.
Just after writing this, I found out that a bill came to a vote in the Senate that would have allowed someone with a permit to carry a concealed handgun in one state to carry it in 48 states.
A strong majority of the Senate, in a 58-39 vote, supported the measure but was two votes short of the 60 votes needed to add the measure as an amendment to a defense bill. Opponents said it would force states with tough concealed weapon permit restrictions to let in gun carriers from states with weak restrictions. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-California said “It’s extremely dangerous policy”, noting that California demands fingerprinting, federal background checks, a training course, and verification by a local sheriff before issuing a permit to carry a concealed gun.
The bill may have passed if it increased restrictions to equal those of the toughest states. I’m not concerned about meeting those restrictions, I just want to be able to carry my gun anywhere I want. Unfortunately, the NRA has a “don’t give an inch” policy instead of a policy of negotiation.
Handguns should be controlled by a Federal permit which would allow a permit holder to carry a concealed handgun anywhere in the US. With a few reasonable changes, everyone would be a lot safer. Some pistol license requirements should be relaxed and others should be increased. Handgun permits should be restricted to people who meet tougher qualifications to carry a handgun but make it easier for people to obtain without proof that it is needed. People who want a handgun, but may not be able to prove financial necessity should still be allowed to obtain a permit. People with criminal convictions and psychiatric histories should not be allowed to obtain or carry handguns.
I have a CCW business carry permit which allows me to carry my handgun anywhere in New York State, but not New York City and not in any other state. I would like to be able to carry my gun anywhere I want. If I need it for protection in New York, why would I not need it in other states as well? If I can be trusted to carry a concealed handgun in New York State, why not in other states, and why not in New York City?
I used to work in the diamond business with my father and he wanted me to travel around the country to sell diamonds to jewelry stores. I never did because of the danger involved. Sometimes, diamond salespeople get robbed while visiting jewelry stores in other states. I have a friend who traveled to Florida to sell colored stones to jewelry stores. He was staying at the house of a friend and when he left in the morning to go to a jewelry store he was approached by a robber when he walked out of the house. Although he gave all his diamonds to the robber, he was shot in the stomach anyway. Fortunately, he survived.
Until 2004, even police officers were not allowed to carry their handguns to other states. At least, they can do that now. Why shouldn’t you or I have a Federal permit to carry a concealed handgun anywhere we go?

I was told by a friend of my family, who is in the Diamond import business, that if you are a certified diamond carrier you are aloud to carry you own personal pistol with a concealed carry permit to something like 30 out of 50 states; for personal and property protection is this not the case anymore is it new or is it just incorrect? And Armored Security Truck personnel carry across state lines so why couldn't the security personnel of a diamond merchant?
I used to work in the diamond business with my father. My father still works in the diamond business and has a website at http://www.Bestdiamondcutter.com.
At that time, I was interested in traveling to other states to sell diamonds to jewelry stores but I did not because I knew people who had been shot while on the road visiting jewelry stores. I did not know then how to obtain a a gun permit to carry a concealed weapon in other states.
I have a permit in New York State (but not NYC) to carry a concealed handgun which I used to have because I was in the diamond business, but now have because I am also a lawyer. Doctors and lawyers have an easier time obtaining a CCW permit in New York because doctors are a target because they may carry a black bag which could have drugs and lawyers could be a target of disgruntled clients. I am also a Nassau County Auxiliary Police Officer and the permit fee is waived for Nassau County Auxiliary Police Officers.
1) There is no such thing as a "certified" diamond carrier.
2) I have been told that it is possible to obtain a permit to carry a concealed handgun in 31 states.
Because I have a concealed weapons permit in New York, I have been told that I can obtain a CCW in Florida which would then allow me to carry in 31 states. I believe it may also be possible to do the same with Utah.
3) I do not believe that there is any law which specifically allows armored truck personnel to carry guns across state lines. Additionally, armored truck security guards carry openly visible weapons , not concealed weapons
I am not looking to buy or sale guns. I am looking for a gun permit that will allow me to carry my guns state to state. I have no need for a CCW. The guns will be locked away in my RV. Is there a permit that will allow me to do that?

Hail Dictator. Hey there. I am a nassau county resident and feel it should be my legal right to carry a handgun if i so choose. I am in favor of full background checks but I wonder why I have to show just cause to obtain a legal Carry Concealed permit. Isnt wanted to be able to protect my family anywhere I go enough?
There is a permit that will allow you to go interstate with your firearm. You have to go to the ATF website and and request the form. the site is http://www.atf.gov/forms go to the forms link and on the right there is a drop box. Pick forms in the drop box and scroll to F 5320.20 this allows you to personally carry from state to state your firearm, also there is an application to carry as an employee. Request these 2 forms and get the license and you can legally carry your firearm (or multiple if your a dealer) where you please, and some cases if you are a "SPO" you can go to federal and state properties carrying your firearm.
F 5320.20 is not a license and is only an application to transport to another state. You should note that it says "THE AUTHORIZATION DOES NOT CARRY OR IMPORT RELIEF FROM ANY STATUTORY OR REGULATORY PROVISIONS RELATING TO FIREARMS OTHER THAN 27 CFR 478.28." (see http://www.atf.gov/forms/download/atf-f-5320-20.p…
I would think that if you can prove that the cash was from the business and that you were carrying it for a business purpose then you would meet the requirements of the license. Stopping for gas or at a restaurant to eat while on the way to the bank should not be prohibited. However, It would be difficult to explain a business purpose by stating that you were planning on depositing the money after visiting a friend three hours away. In the event of an arrest, always demand to speak to a lawyer before providing any information other than your identification.
I'm not an expert on gun law but I thought you need to carry cash, not checks to qualify for a business carry permit. I have a business carry permit but I got it because I'm a lawyer. Lawyers and doctors can easily get a business carry permit. Also, the license fee is waived for me because I'm an Auxiliary Police Officer. Also, I should retract what I said in my prior comment because I don’t know if you are allowed to make a stop on the way to the deposit. It would certainly seem reasonable to be able to stop for gas or go to the bathroom on the way to making a deposit. I suggest that you ask the police officer where you apply for your pistol permit. My original pistol license was issued because I was in the diamond business. It was issued because I was carrying diamonds and not making a deposit. I was frequently carrying diamonds and conducting business even at night. Consequently, I was able to carry my permit 24 hours per day as long as I had diamonds on me. After starting a law practice, I change my permit. Because I could be a target by an angry defendant at any time, I need to be able to carry a gun at any time.
if ny wasnt so strict on their laws you could carry in other states. im in tn and ny will not honor their permits so their for tn will not honor theirs.i think it is our right to have guns , hand guns included and to let the government comtrol that is wrong.if we let them control that what is gonna stop then finally banning all fire arms ? maybe every one their should get them to lighten up on their laws. after all ny city , chicago , etc are the hardest citys to have a hand gun and yet they have the highest gun crime rates in the us. thats becouse the criminals know they are the only ones with them and their now affraid to shoot at you , here 60 +% have guns and they know that we will protect our selves at all cost.
I have had a Texas concealed weapon per mit in tax for a while.
I had one in CT before I left there in 2000z
I want a Federal handgun permit.
How do I get one?
I have been an insurance adjuster in almost every state for over 30 years.
Threats don’t bother but in the event that are credible I would like to be capable of taking care of any issue.
I travel frequently to the states that I had to service and would appreciate the leverage to protect myself.
Please let me know what is needed.
